Auditions

Thank you very much to everyone who tried out for a part in the Christmas Panto this afternoon. We had a great turn-out and it looks to be a fantastic cast. The script is being finalized as I type this message. Eight weeks of hard work ahead...

Hi all,

Just wanted to say break a leg, and I'll be thinking of you next month for the performance. I hope you don't mind my some of my cheesy jokes again in the script...

This year was the first time I've been involved in team-writing. I was a bit hesitant at first (too many cooks, etc. etc.), but it was a really fun experience. Bouncing ideas around (for me, just electronically, but for the others, I bet it was a blast getting together to work on it!), drafting and redrafting, creating without the full (and HUGE) responsibility of having to write everything, and revelling in the shared ideas was so, so, fun. It's one of the most enjoyable things I've done with the PPP.

I'd certainly recommend anyone interested who has a creative bent, but who might be a bit hesitant due to lack of experience, to get involved next time there's a joint writing exercise. Who knows, you might end up getting a taste for 'bigger picture' stuff like directing or producing.....

Anyway, I'm yet to start working on getting together a Kinshasa Players (other priorities in the country and at work at the moment...), but will be with you all in spirit (and in script!) through your rehearsals and performances.

Thanks again to the writing team for listening to my distant ramblings and suggestions. Even though I'm a continent away, I close my eyes and I'm back in the ISPP auditorium, laughing at an actor bringing life and character and ideas I'd never thought of before, worrying about the budget and the venue, and enjoying being part of a great, great group.

Best to all, and email me if you get a minute(danny.whitehead@hotmail.com). I'd love to hear from you.

Danny
